Spotify CEO Daniel EK hat heute auf dem “What Is New With Spotify?” Event in New York verkündet, dass der beliebte Musik-Streaming-Dienst sich für externe Entwickler öffnet, was die Ankunft von verschiedensten Apps bedeutet. Ich bin gespannt, inwiefern das Musikerlebnis mit Spotify dadurch noch zusätzlich aufgewertet wird.

An Cop-Dramen mangelte es in den vergangenen Jahren wahrlich nicht, in den meisten Fällen jedoch mit höchst überschaubarer Qualität. Ob es “Rampart” mit Woody Harrelson in der Hauptrolle als “most corrupt cop you’ve ever seen on screen” sowie einem überdurchschnittlichen Cast (wenn man mal von Ice Cube absieht) gelingen wird, aus der mediokren Masse hervorzustechen? Der Trailer ist jedenfalls mehr als ok.

Sage und schreibe bis zum 1. März 2012 müssen wir uns noch gedulden, bis Steve McQueen’s Drama viel gepriesenes “Shame” Einzug in die hiesigen Kinos erhält. Nicht zuletzt angesichts dieses neuen Trailers, den ich guten Gewissens als perfekt bezeichnend würde, ist das eine verdammt lange Wartezeit…

Steven Van Zandt aka Silvio Dante als New Yorker Ex-Gangster, den es im Rahmen des Zeugenschutzprogramms auf eigenen Wunsch hin nach Lillehammer verschlägt? Vor meinem geistigen Auge treffen bei dieser Beschreibung “The Sopranos” auf “Fargo”, was ziemlich fantastisch werden könnte. Umso verwunderlicher, dass ich von der im Frühjahr 2012 bei Netflix startenden Serie namens “Lilyhammer” bislang noch so gar nichts gehört hatte. Die erste Staffel wird acht Folgen umfassen, eine zweite Staffel mit gleicher Episodenanzahl ist ebenfalls bereits in trockenen Tüchern.

Charlie Brooker, seines Zeichens britischer TV- bzw. Medienkritiker und Macher solch großartiger Formate wie “Dead Set” oder “How TV Ruined Your Life”, geht ab Dezember auf Channel 4 mit einer neuen dreiteiligen Miniserie namens “Black Mirror” an den Start. Beschreibung und Trailer nach zu urteilen, dürfte auch diese wieder gewohnt super werden.

Black Mirror is a contemporary British re-working of The Twilight Zone with stories that tap into the collective unease about our modern world. The three stand-alone dramas are sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales with a techno-paranoia bent.

Set in a sarcastic version of a future reality, 15 Million Merits is a satire on entertainment shows and our insatiable thirst for distraction. In this world, everyone is confined to a life of strange physical drudgery. The only way to escape this life is to enter the ‘Hot Shot’ talent show and just pray you can impress the judges. The cast includes Julia Davis, Rupert Everett, Daniel Kaluuya and Jessica Brown-Findlay.
In Memoriam (working title), written by Jesse Armstrong, is set in an alternate reality where everyone has access to a system which records everything they do, see or hear. You need never forget a face, a holiday or a night out again… but is that always good thing?

Und dann fuhr ich mit völlig überzogenen Erwartungen auf das The Rapture Konzert, welche letztlich sogar noch übertroffen wurden, da sich gerade mal knapp 150 Gäste eingefunden hatten und ich in der ersten Reihe Luke Jenner beibrachte, wie man “fuck yeah” auf deutsch sagt, was dieser mir einen Fistbump dankte. Ach, und das Tour-Shirt hat auch nur läppische 5€ gekostet. FICK JA! ♥♥♥♥
Der Auftritt von WU LYF vor einigen Wochen in Frankfurt gehört definitiv zu meinen Konzert-Highlights in 2011. Mit “We Bros” hat die Band aus Manchester einen der besten Songs ihres Debütalbums “Go Tell Fire to the Mountain” zur neuen Single auserkoren, und folglich gibt es nun auch ein zugehöriges Video.
Die Qualität der Filme, in denen Robert De Niro in den vergangenen zehn Jahren zu sehen war, darf guten Gewissens als eher schwankend bezeichnet werden, und auch in seine Darbietungen schien sich oftmals eine gelangweilte Routine eingeschlichen zu haben. Umso erfreulicher, dass der Trailer zur Romanverfilmung “Being Flynn” (Originaltitel: Another Bullshit Night in Suck City) erstaunlich gut aussieht. Das Vater/Sohn-Drama kann neben De Niro mit einem tollen Cast, bestehend aus Paul Dano, Olivia Thirlby und Julianne Moore aufwarten.

Still feeling the loss of his mother (played in flashbacks by Julianne Moore) in the midst of starting a new relationship with Denise (Olivia Thirlby), the last person Nick wants to see is his father. But you can’t outrun fate and slowly Nick comes to realize he has been given the chance to make a real future not only for himself, but for his struggling father too.
Es wird sich zeigen, ob “The Hunger Games” nur eine glattgebügelte US-Variante von “Battle Royale” werden wird, oder ob Regisseur Gary Ross ausgehend von einer ähnlichen Grundprämisse ein distinktives filmisches Werk auf die Beine stellen kann. Dank Jennifer Lawrence in der Hauptrolle bleibt der Film jedenfalls definitiv auf meinem Radar.

Motorama ist eine dieser Bands, die in einer gerechten Welt ungleich bekannter wären. Mit ihrer neuen Single “Empty Bed” haben sie ein weiteres Stück hervorragender Musik abgeliefert, welches ihr euch – übrigens ebenso wie die kompletten restliche Diskographie – auf ihrer Webseite kostenlos runterladen könnt.
Großartiges Video, in dem Kevin Smith knapp zwanzig Minuten lang aus dem Nähkästchen plaudert und dabei erzählt, wieso er Ende der Neunziger letztlich doch nicht das Drehbuch zu einem neuen Superman Film schrieb, obwohl er bereits zwei Entwürfe angefertigt hatte. Pures Stand-up-Comedy-Gold!
Animierter Kurzfilm mit “Awwwww”-Potential: “End of a Scarer” erzählt die Geschichte eines in die Jahre gekommenen Hollywood-Monsters, welches angesichts der großen Konkurrenz des neuen Stars an Filmhimmel namens “CGI” verzweifelt zu beweisen versucht, dass es sehr wohl immer noch Angst und Schrecken verbreiten kann.
Einer der wenigen guten TV-Serienneustarts der aktuellen US-Herbstsaison ist in meinen Augen die Märchenserie “Once Upon A Time”, welche im Gegensatz zu NBC’s “Grimm” mit einem originellen übergreifenden Handlungsbogen zu fesseln vermag. Das ganze hat zwar nur bedingt etwas mit dem eigentlich Thema dieses Beitrags zu tun, soll euch jedoch vor Augen führen, dass ich der Märchenthematik generell offen gegenüber stehe. Aus diesem Grund lege ich euch auch den Trailer zu “Snow White And The Huntsman” ans Herz, welcher der Story um Schneewittchen eine neue Note verleiht und überraschend gut aussieht.
