Resident Advisor “Real Scenes” Episode 2: Detroit
Die zweite Episode der neuen Resident Advisor Doku-Reihe “Real Scenes” widmet sich dem Geburtsort des Motown Sounds sowie des Techno: Detroit, Michigan. Erneut äußerst sehenswert!
You can’t talk about electronic music without mentioning Detroit. That’s why in the second edition of Real Scenes, RA and Bench went to the city which birthed the genre we now call techno.
Detroit has always had a creative streak, due in large part to the boom and subsequent bust of the auto industry. Quite simply, Detroit is a city of extremes, and its music reflects that. These days, Detroit’s importance in the global electronic music scene is often referred to in the past tense. When we visited the city, though, we found a number of artists with their eyes (and ears) firmly set towards the future. After our time in the Motor City, it’s clear to us that Detroit will endure and innovate for years to come.

Resident Advisor Dokumentation: Real Scenes: Bristol
Resident Advisor dürfte jedem, der sich auch nur annähernd für elektronische Musik interessiert, ein Begriff sein. Das Online-Magazin bringt in Zusammenarbeit mit Bench eine neue Doku-Reihe namens “Real Scenes” an den Start, in welcher die derzeitigen Epizentren elektronischer Musik samt der jeweiligen Schlüsselfiguren beleuchtet werden.
Real Scenes is a series of films in which we explore the musical, cultural and creative climate within electronic music’s key destinations. We’ll look at the role singular figureheads—producers, DJs, promoters—play in making their city’s music scene a point of world-wide interest. We’ll also look at places, spaces and inspirations, seeking out the essence of what gives these hyper-local scenes a truly global resonance.
In Folge eins wird sich der elektronischen Musikszene der Skins Stadt Bristol gewidmet. Unbedingt bei Vimeo abonnieren das ganze!

Die Odd Future Gang machte auf ihrer Tour durch Europa und Asien gestern Abend Halt im Electric Ballroom in Camden. Das PunchBowl Blog hat 12 Minuten der energiegeladenen Live-Show auf HD-Video gebannt und bei YouTube hochgeladen. Der Sound ist zwar miserabel, aber dafür könnt ihr Tyler, the Creator mit gebrochenem Fuß beim Crowdsurfen beobachten. Swag!

Netter Kurzfilm namens “Plot Device”, der genau genommen für eine Video-Editing-Software wirbt, was allerdings nur zu Beginn durch eine Logoeinblendung deutlich wird und daher nicht weiter stört. Wer sich für das Making-of interessiert, sollte hier vorbeischauen.
